David Hamilton is partner and founding member of Hamilton Moon. He received a B.S. in Foreign Service, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1974, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and Juris Doctor, with honors, at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill in 1977, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Mr. Hamilton is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association (Litigation, Construction Law and Dispute Resolution Sections) and the American Bar Association. He is a past President of the Mecklenburg County Bar and a former Delegate to the American Bar Association's House of Delegates. He is a former affiliate member of the American Institute of Architects, a state certified mediator and arbitrator, a member of the arbitrator and mediator panels of the American Arbitration Association, and a panel member of The Arbitration Group. He speaks regularly on construction related issues to lawyers, design professionals and others involved in the construction process. He is also a member (and former Board member) of The Construction Professionals Network of North Carolina. He has represented design professionals, owners, municipalities, developers, contractors, subcontractors and vendors in several hundred matters, with claims in dispute ranging from residential and multi family housing matters to public, commercial, and industrial construction claims. He has acted as panel and approved counsel for several carriers, representing design professional insureds. He has mediated several hundred construction cases, and has acted as an arbitrator on numerous occasions, including numerous construction claims.
